If you are an aspiring DJ, but yet haven’s got the perfect avenue to showcase your talent, then read on.
Luminosity and afterhours.fm are organizing a dj contest where the best 20 mixes will be broadcasted and the three best djs will win a gig at the Luminosity Before the Energy event!
This contest is for upcoming dj's and producers and gives talented people the opportunity to breakthrough in the international dance and club scene. If your specialised in trance and/or progressive then you can join this competition. The three best mixes will be announced as the winners and the DJ's will receive the opportunity to show their skills to the public at the Luminosity presents Before the Energy event at CityHall, Utrecht (NL) on Friday 6 March 2009.

Breakthrough
The Dutch dance scene has an excellent reputation around the world. Luminosity gives talents from the whole world a chance and by this, it's possible to raise a new generation of aspiring artists/djs. Re-Ward, Mat Zo and Vast Vision are just a few perfect examples of fresh new talent that have played at Lumiosity events.

How does it works
The contest contains two rounds, the semi finals and finals.
Semi finals: after you have submitted your demo the mix will be judged by a jury and also the public has the chance to vote on their favourite mix.
With your mix you have the chance to show your best mixing skills and you can qualify for a spot in the finals: from the submitted demo's the best 20 mixes will be chosen and broadcasted on afterhours.fm where the djs start the last battle to win one of the three available dj spots at Luminosity presents Before the Energy.

Rules
• Requested style: Trance & Progressive, and related sub-genres. 
• Professional artists are excluded. A professional artist is defined as someone who has (productions) signed at labes or a DJ who played in a club with more then 200 visitors.
• Sets must be exactly 60 minutes long, +/- 2 minutes (that is, 58-62 minutes). Everything else will be rejected.
• Sets must be in mp3 format with exactly 192 kbps, CBR. No VBR or other bitrates allowed. Set must be stereo with 44.1 kHz sample rate.
• Please name the mp3 in this format:
djname_-_dj_contest_luminosity_presents_before_the_energy_6_march_2009.mp3
• Hardware only, software mixes are not allowed.
• Only one submission per person is allowed
• Sets must have been mixed exclusively for this contest.
• Upload the mix to http://www.rapidshare.com and http://www.sendspace.com
• Submissions failing to comply to the above rules will be rejected.

Jury - Judging criterions
All the mixes will be judged by the following points: 1) mixing and technical skill. 2) track selection 3 ) originality.
The set with the highest score wins!

Timeplan
15 Nov 2008: Opening of the dj contest. DJ sets can be posted on the Luminosity forum.
28 Dec 2008: End of the semi finals. Start of the voting and judging by the jury. 20 best mixes continue to the finals.
30 Jan 2009: The finals: live broadcast of 20 best mixes at http://www.afterhours.fm and start of the last voting and judging. Note: it is required to record a new mix for the finals!
15 Feb 2009: Announcing the three winners.
06 March 2009: The three winners will be performing at the Luminositry presents Before the Energy event.

Record a mix and post it at the Luminosity forum. Use the submission form as posted on the forum.

Luminosity - Before The Energy @ CityHall, Utrecht (06-03-2009) Trance Energy Pre Party

This year's Trance Energy weekend will be packed with some of the best trance dj's from all over the world, starting Friday the 6th of March with Luminosity's "Before the Energy" In Utrechts most unique club "Nachtburgemeester" aka City Hall. Like last year Luminosity will combine the best upcoming names and established dj's to host the perfect Trance Energy preparty you'll ever witness.
Make sure you'll be part of this event hosting 3 different areas and 20 dj's.

After their big success last year, this year Luminosity choose to do something different location wise. This year an unique location which embodies both future and past. "Nachtburgemeester" is the place to be, looking at history, being underneath Utrecht's Cityhall and future looking at the promising dj's who will be playing that Friday along with some of the best trance dj's you wouldn't even think of coming.

Fresh from their epic start in November 2007 and world class collaborations with dj's like DJ Shah, Aly & Fila, Solarstone, Mark Norman, Ernesto vs. Bastian, Airbase, Kyau & Albert, Signum, Leon Bolier as well as NL debuts such as Re-Ward, Mat Zo, Carl B, Tenishia, Daniel Kandi, Monogato, The Blizzard, Mike Foyle, Hydroid, Sebastian Brandt, Ferry Tayle, Manuel Le Saux just in 2008 alone, Luminosity continues to set the pace others follow in new trance talent and cutting edge lineups. Luminosity is here to stay!
